Can a change of mind, change your life? It can!
Dr Edward Bach, the founder of Bach’s flower essences -who is best known as the creator of Rescue Remedy -believed that all disease was caused due to “dis-ease” of the mind.
Although he was a practicing, medically trained doctor, and bacteriologist, he strongly felt that a patient’s personality attracted certain illness’s to themselves, whilst other people’s personalities did not.
Basically – he believed that illness was all in the mind, and the person’s personality was the cause of it.
To many, this sounds seriously out there, but there are many others who follow his beliefs.
Louise Hay, famous for her book called ‘Heal your body’ believes every illness is linked to a state of mind. I read her book quite a few years ago when I had chronic reoccurring Cystitis (urinary tract infections). I used to go from attack to attack when I worked for a specific skincare company. Nothing medical or natural could cure it. Of course, I went straight to that ‘illness’ to find that it meant that I was “pissed off”. I laughed at first, but after a little thought – had to admit that her diagnosis was spot on. Once I left that company, I did not get urinary tract infections anymore!
Louise Hays says “If we are willing to do the mental work, almost anything can be healed” our lives, our bodies, our jobs.
Ian White from Australian Bush Flower Essences says that his Essences are a modern form of Bach Flower Essences, “giving clarity to one’s life but also the courage, strength and commitment to follow and pursue one’s goals and dreams. They help to develop a higher level of intuition, self-esteem, spirituality, creativity and fun. The more the Essences are used, the more one is likely to experience greater awareness and happiness in one’s life. Then everyone benefits….the individual, society and the planet.”
This belief is similar to a Hawaiian belief called Hoʻoponopono.
“Hoʻoponopono” is defined in the Hawaiian Dictionary as “mental cleansing: family conferences in which relationships were set right through prayer, discussion, confession, repentance, and mutual restitution and forgiveness. “Hoʻo basically means to, Ponopono is defined as “to put to rights; to put in order or shape, correct, revise, adjust, amend, regulate, arrange, rectify, tidy up, make orderly or neat”.
Their mantra is “I love you, I’m sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you”
Dr Ihaleakala Hew Len cured an incurable psychiatric ward at Hawaii State Hospital of mentally insane killers over a period of four years, where before, the staff turnover was huge due to staff being so scared to work there. Dr Len explained that total responsibility for your life means that everything in your life – simply because it is in your life – is your responsibility. In a literal sense the entire world as you see it is your creation.
This can be a bit hard to digest for some due to not being able to completely understand it. But I personally find that when I am having trouble dealing with someone or something, I often repeat these words over and over again until I find myself totally calm inside. I always find that the problem solves itself, or, a solution just pops into my mind.
Rhonda Byrne the writer and producer of the well-known movie The Secret, says that if you focus on love and gratitude for all that you have, and love and give gratitude for what you wish to receive, you can change your life.
One thing she also speaks about is that your perception will become your reality. How do we perceive each and every experience in our lives?
So you ask me – what do you mean?
Have you ever noticed when you go to work that some of the staff love the work and some just moan about what they do? You all do the exact same work, make the same money, yet some girls have enough money for everything they want and others don’t? The difference is – each person’s perception of what they have.
The girls who love their work also seem to have enough money to buy what they want. Yes? The girls who hate their work, are always broke? True?
It is just as simple as each and every person’s perception of their lives. Your mind can change your perception of each and everything you do – and if you cannot do it alone, Australian Bush Flower Essences or Bach flower essences can help you to change your headspace into the right place to help you on your way. But before you reach for some flower essences to help change your life. Work out first why is it that you are not happy? If it is genuinely because you just do not fit in with the team, or work crazy long hours and do not feel that you love what you do enough to work those long hours, you may have to reassess what you do. If you are the boss, and one or two of your staff members are driving you crazy, is it because they are different to you, or, is it because they just do not fit in. Do they have the same ethics as you? Or not?
You cannot fix something if you do not know what is wrong! And then again – is something wrong? Or is it your perception?
I excitedly joined the bridal industry 16 years ago. I loved what I did, I was passionate about what I did. I was always researching how I could do what I did better. So much so, I turned my dysfunctional up-do hairstyling into an ability which I am truly proud of today.
After years of coping with the stressfulness of weddings, I burnt out. I actually burnt out so badly, that I even started loosing jobs doing what I loved – commercial and fashion makeup as I was too tired, too emotionally and physically drained to do what I did well. I fell asleep on set, I spoke harshly to bridal parties. I was always sick.
My tolerant and quiet assistant, approached me one day, white as a ghost with angst, and asked me if I was ok. Was it menopause? Or was I just stressed?
I knew for her to actually say something meant that things were far from ok, as she seldom said anything as she was so shy and reserved.
It made me stop and reassess my life. Were the weddings really that awful? Some yes, some no. Were the days on set so long that I could not stay awake – or just so boring when the talent said the same boring ad line over and over and over and over and over and over (get the drift?) again!? The latter was yes. The production company’s ads were just so crazy boring that they were killing me –and the days so long, I really had lost the passion.
I decided to change my life.
I love what I do now. I only attract brides that I love – I decided that I would only attract brides I enjoyed being around. I do fun freelance work – I never start at the crack of dawn anymore on commercial and corporate jobs, and when I do, they feed me breakfast.
I changed my perception of life. I worked out the causes of my illness and decided to heal myself with Bach Flower essences and being grateful for all that I had.
It is amazing how your life changes when you decide to be grateful for all that you have, for the people you love and who love you back. For your friends, family, pet. I am grateful for my makeup kit which brings me crazy amounts of money for what I do. I am grateful for my paid work and unpaid work. I am grateful that I can write and share what I learn with others.
Fear is truly destructive. Fear stops us from flying and achieving all that we would love to achieve. Bach has a flower essence which works on stopping fear – Mimulus – fear of known things, such as leaving your job which you are unhappy in (but are you grateful for this job? Are you to cause you are unhappy? Or are you and it just a bad match?) but have nothing to go to, so scared to leave. Fear of spiders, fear of snakes, fear of pushing your boundaries to achieve something greater.
Australian Bush Flower Essences have Red Grevillea for those who are oversensitive to criticism and are too reliant on others to have the strength to stand up for themselves and to be indifferent to the judgment of others. They also have flower essences to deal with other emotional issues to overcome fear.
Many of us work with the general public where we are inundated daily with other people’s moaning and groaning about their lives, never being grateful for what they have, no matter how rich they are financially or emotionally. It does become hard to step away and find the beauty and love in everything. Walk away from each moan session being grateful that you are able to be grateful for what you have. Be grateful that you are able to enjoy what you have. Be grateful to have your health. Be grateful that you are alive………………
So you do not have that huge diamond ring your whining client with the $250,000 car has. Is she happy? You do not know what goes on behind closed doors – never judge people on face value. So someone at work is being a pain, trying your every nerve, your patience and your self-control – be grateful that the universe is teaching you patience – keep repeating the words “I love you” till you feel calm and they suddenly do not bother you anymore.
And if you want that huge ring and a fast car – manifest that for yourself! Just know like you know like you know, that if you really truly believe that you will receive these two things, somehow someway the universe will supply it. Either through hard work, a gift, or a large win. Also accept, nothing ever happens in our time frames – only the universes!
